Abstract / 摘 要
Additive Manufacturing (AM), sometimes referred to as three-dimensional (3D) printing, encompasses a variety of processes wherein a 3D object is produced from a digital model by adding successive layers of material to create the object. Additive Manufacturing of functional metal components received more and more attention in recent years because of the ability to rapidly produce parts directly from a digital data and has been widely applied to many areas, such as aerospace, automotive, medical, mold, jewelry. The principle of metallic additive manufacturing is similar to the traditional sense of the surfacing technology. The important difference is that the droplet size of AM is much smaller than that of surfacing technology. Metallic additive manufacturing is also called micro-welding technology. In this paper, the existing metallic additive manufacturing technologies are classified by the types of different delivery methods of the processing materials. The schematics of different metallic additive manufacturing technology are detailed. At the same time, the obstacles and challenges of the development and extensive application of existing metallic additive manufacturing technology are summarized. In addition, the future development trends of the metallic AM are summarized to get a global overview through the engineering and manufacturing process.
